Listen Very Carefully

A Talk on The ISFG, The KKKKA, Eurospy and The Royal Playhouse, Tenby.

7pm Friday 20th July 2018
Tenby Museum & Art Gallery, Castle Hill, Tenby, Pembrokeshire SA70 7BP

Film historian Richard Rhys Davies is the author of The International Spy Guide 1945 – 1989, a book described by Anthony Horowitz (author of the James Bond novel Trigger Mortis) as “Nothing short of a treasure trove.  A great gift for anyone with an interest in spy films” and Kiss Kiss Kill Kill: The Graphic Art and Forgotten Spy Films of Cold War Europe.  For these works Richard reviewed over 2000 espionage films from over 65 countries, many of them forgotten and, like the best of spies, extremely hard to track down. He will discuss how the books came to be written, the secret to the on-going popularity of spy films and will also consider the 1960s ‘Europsy’ genre in today’s Brexit Britain. The talk will be illustrated by images from the extensive Kiss Kiss Kill Kill archive.
